Invoice Generator with Payment Details — Get Paid Faster
By Innvoic
The fastest way to get paid is to make paying effortless. Put your Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or bank details on the invoice with a scannable QR code in the on-screen preview — Zelle rides along as a plain text line. The downloaded PDF lists the payment method as text. This free generator saves your payment methods once and drops them onto any invoice, with a scannable QR code in the on-screen preview for link methods.
How to create an invoice with payment details
- Open the payment section and add every method you accept. Zelle (your email or phone, shown as text), Venmo username, Cash App cashtag, PayPal.Me link, and bank details for ACH or wire. You fill these in once and they’re saved for every future invoice.
- Match the methods to the client. Younger US clients often prefer Venmo or Cash App; businesses expect ACH or check details; international clients usually want Wise or PayPal. Put the two most likely methods first so the client doesn’t have to hunt.
- Turn on QR codes in the on-screen preview for scannable methods. The tool builds a QR code in the on-screen preview from your saved PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App handle, so a client can pay from their phone in seconds. The downloaded PDF lists the method as text. Zelle shows as plain text since there’s no public Zelle payment link.
- Double-check every character. One wrong digit in a cashtag or routing number sends money to a stranger. Read each handle back against the original before you send the invoice. This is the one field where a typo costs real money.
- Set a due date and a late fee clause, then send it. Download the PDF, or email it from your own mail app in one tap. Clear payment details plus a firm deadline is the combination that actually gets invoices paid on time.
What to include
- Every payment method you accept, clearly labeled
- The exact handle, username, or ID for each method
- QR codes in the preview for Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal
- Zelle email or phone number, shown as plain text
- Bank name, routing, and account numbers for ACH or wire (share only with clients you trust)
- The exact amount due, right next to the payment details
- Currency shown explicitly for international clients
- Your invoice number: ask clients to include it in the payment memo
- Payment due date
- Late fee policy
- Who covers transaction fees, if anyone
- Your contact info in case a payment fails
How the four payment methods compare
The tool shows payment codes only in the on-screen preview. A downloaded PDF never carries a code: it lists the payment method as text. Zelle is the exception that proves the rule, because it has no code even in the preview.
- Venmo: the preview code encodes your Venmo link and carries no amount. The client types the total in Venmo. The PDF lists Venmo as text.
- Cash App: the preview code opens your $cashtag link with the total already filled in. The client confirms. The PDF lists Cash App as text.
- PayPal: the preview code opens your PayPal.Me link with the total ready to approve. The client approves in a browser. The PDF lists PayPal as text.
- Zelle: there is no code. The contact appears as text in the preview and on the PDF, where it prints as Pay via Zelle followed by the contact. The client sends payment from a bank app or the Zelle app and types the amount.
Pick the method your client already uses. The invoice itself works the same for all four: same line items, same totals, same PDF.

Frequently asked questions
Which payment method gets me paid fastest?
Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App usually land the same day, sometimes within minutes. ACH takes one to three business days, and paper checks are the slowest by far. If speed matters, list an instant method first and put the slower ones below it.
Are QR codes on invoices safe?
Yes, for link methods. A payment QR code just encodes your public handle or payment link, the same thing you’d type out by hand. The codes here are generated locally on your device from details you entered yourself, so there’s nothing to intercept. Bank details stay as text on the downloaded invoice. Never put passwords or full account logins on an invoice, QR or otherwise.
Why does Zelle show as text instead of a QR code?
Zelle doesn’t offer a public payment link the way Venmo or PayPal do. The client opens their own bank app and sends money to your enrolled email or phone number. Text is the correct format here. A QR code would just encode the same email address anyway.
Who pays the transaction fees?
You decide, but state it on the invoice. Many freelancers absorb PayPal or card fees as a cost of getting paid fast; others add a small surcharge or steer clients toward free methods like Zelle and ACH. Whatever you choose, apply it consistently so no client feels singled out.
What about international clients?
Wise or PayPal handle most cross-border payments well. Always show the currency explicitly (USD, EUR, GBP) so there’s no confusion, and remember the client may see conversion fees on their end. If you invoice internationally often, Wise’s multi-currency details are worth setting up once.
A client paid the wrong amount. Now what?
Confirm what actually arrived, then record it as a partial payment. The tool tracks amount paid and balance due automatically. Send a short follow-up invoice or an updated copy showing the remaining balance. Stay polite; most short payments are honest mistakes.
