Free Receipt Generator — No Signup

By Innvoic

The client paid. Now they want proof, quickly. Switch the document type to Receipt and the layout stops asking for money and starts confirming it was received. Record the amount paid on any invoice and the balance due updates to zero on its own. You don’t need an account for any of it. Receipts download as clean PDFs, no watermark, and every one saves to your history automatically.

Receipts for paid invoices

Open the invoice in My Invoices, enter what the client paid, and the totals block shows amount paid and balance due. Balance hits zero: switch the document type to Receipt and download. The document reads as a confirmation of payment, with the paid amount prominent and your business details, invoice number and dates intact. Partial payments work too. Record what arrived and the receipt shows the running balance honestly. Add your logo and signature for formality. It’s small, but clients remember it: a proper receipt within minutes of payment beats a casual “yeah I got it” text.

Track what’s paid and what’s due

Receipts are only half the story. The other half is knowing who still owes you. Every saved invoice carries a status: draft, sent, paid, or overdue (flagged automatically when the due date passes with a balance left). The history table shows totals and statuses at a glance, so one scan tells you what’s outstanding without opening a document. Mark invoices paid as the money arrives and your records stay truthful with no spreadsheet. Need to nudge a late payer first? The reminder templates draft a polite-to-firm email from the invoice data before you ever reach the receipt stage. And when tax season comes, Export CSV hands your accountant the full ledger.

Is this receipt generator free?

Yes. Issue as many payment receipts as you need and download them as PDF. Free, no account required.

How do I mark an invoice as paid?

Enter the amount paid on the invoice and the balance due updates automatically. Save it, then set its status to paid in My Invoices.

Can I issue a receipt for a partial payment?

Yes. Record the amount received and the receipt shows both the paid amount and the remaining balance, honestly itemised. When the rest arrives, record it the same way and issue the final receipt.

What’s the difference between an invoice and a receipt?

An invoice requests payment. A receipt confirms it was received. This tool offers both as document types: create the invoice first, then issue the receipt once it’s paid.

When should I issue a receipt?

Issue a receipt immediately after receiving payment, especially for cash transactions where it’s the only proof. Many jurisdictions legally require receipts when requested. For card/bank payments, the transaction record often suffices, but a receipt is still good practice.

What should a receipt include?

Your business name, the date payment was received, the amount paid, the payment method, what it was for (invoice number or description), and a receipt number. Keep it simple — it’s proof of payment, not a new bill.

Can I use an invoice as a receipt?

Mark a paid invoice as ‘PAID’ and it serves as a receipt. But a dedicated receipt is clearer — it states the payment date, method, and amount received, without the payment terms and due dates that belong on an invoice.
